Then, he crosses the street without looking both ways - because he's already dead - then he taps on the window with his grizzly spatula hand. Finally, he arrives in the bus that ran him over. Second, the phone will ring, and there will be nobody there. There are three signs that foretell his arrival - first, the lights will flicker on and off. So now, every Tuesday night, his ghost appears to wreak horrible vengeance upon the Krusty Krab. One night while cutting patties, he cut off his own hand by mistake - only he wasn't a sponge, so it didn't grow back. The story tells the tale of the life of an unnamed fry cook just like SpongeBob - only clumsier. Originally written as a way to scare his good friend SpongeBob SquarePants into behaving properly while working the night shift at his terrible job, the story has been praised for its frightening nature and haunting realism. He was also revealed to be the cause of the latter two "signs" signalling the hash-slinging slasher's arrival, with Nosferatu switching the lights on and off."The Hash Slinging Slasher" is a short story written by struggling artist, clarinet-expert and restaurant cashier Squidward Tentacles. Eventually, it is revealed that the hash-slinging slasher, or what they thought was him, actually came to apply for a job at the Krusty Krab.
Later that night, however, it seemed that the events of his story were coming true. Squidward later confesses that he fabricated the story in response to SpongeBob's almost-frenetic-and-melodramatic screams of terror.
However, his presence is announced by (in sequential order) flickering lights, a phone call with nobody on the sending line, and the arrival of the bus that killed him, stopping just outside the Krusty Krab. Out of vengeance, his ghost returns to the restaurant every Tuesday night via the bus that killed him and "gets" unsuspecting victims. Later, when he was going home, he was fatally run over by a bus and "fired" at his funeral. The slasher one night accidentally severed one of his hands by mistake while cutting Krabby Patty meat and replaced it with a rusty spatula.
According to Squidward's story, the hash-slinging slasher was a former fry cook who worked at the Krusty Krab before SpongeBob and was more clumsier than him. History "Graveyard Shift" Squidward creates the character of the "hash-slinging slasher" in order to scare SpongeBob as a form of entertainment during their 24-hour night shift.
